The NMAC-L listserve is an easy way to share information and
learn about New Mexico's rich archaeology, even if you are not a
member of NMAC. For those of you who may not know what a
listserve is, don't worry. It isn't complicated or dangerous.

Basically, a listserve is simply a system in which an individual
emails a message to a central computer, in this case the
University of New Mexico's mainframe. The central computer
then forwards the message to all of the other members of the
listserve.

The ultimate effect is the same as if you had sent the email to
everyone on the list individually. For example, if I were to write a
message and send it to the listserve, everyone on the listserve
will receive it. Thus, instead of having to email hundreds of
different people, I will only need to send a single email to one
place.

You do not need to worry about viruses or security problems;
messages forwarded by the listserve are exactly like all other
emails.
